HIKING

The Vanoise National Park and surrounding areas in La Plagne provide a perfect mountain backdrop for gentle walks or mighty hikes. As with any mountain activities you will need the appropriate clothing to protect yourself should the weather change, so make sure you bring a lightweight fleece, leggings and even thermals and a waterproof. Please also do bring a small first aid kit.

Also make use of the local guides who can talk you through the plethora of flora and fauna. If you choose to explore the National Park by yourselves, there are peaks of up to 3000m and over 600km of marked trails, so you will not be disappointed. For more local stuff there ís a local walkers info centre in the village where you can get advice on short afternoon walks or help planning a varied week of promenades. Local guide prices start from 15 Euro and we can arrange booking for you.

Here are two ideas:
  • Mine Trail: a loop starting from Montchavin, overlooking the Pontarin Valley and passing a former anthracite mine. Circuit 2.5 hours
  • Nature path: a circuit in the forest linking Montchavin and Les Coches; showing off the mountain countryside. Circuit 1.5 hours.
