Montchavin
Montchavin - once a farming village - is now a charming resort with much more character than the purpose-built La Plagne developments. Its traffic-free centre is a great place for kids to explore. Though the night life is fairly quiet, there are some good bars and restaurants - Base Camp is the bar for all your apres needs and does an excellent burger and chips and we can recommend the Ferme de Cesar for good food and service in in a lovely traditional setting. And there ís Oxygen, Montchavin's nightclub, which is open until 4 A.M. if you want something livelier and later.
Les Coches - situated at 1,450 metres - is a modern resort, but still echoes the rustic charm of Montchavin having been designed in stone and wood it has a village feel, a friendly atmosphere and, like Montchavin, is traffic-free. There are some good eateries and bars, some of which open until 4.00am. We recommend La Lauzes for excellent local food and the Last One pub for a few beers and Apres fun.If you want to stay home and relax on our day off the local pizzeria even delivers to the chalet door!
